We are so glad that you will be joining us for our chupah and the following celebration. The invitations will be going out shortly.

We decided to register by using a blog rather than at any particular store so that we could list both both Judaica and household items. Please do not feel obliged to buy any gift. Your attendance is the greatest gift of all. If, however, you decide to purchase one of the items on the list, please make a comment next to it (so that nothing will be double-purchased). We wanted to thank everyone who came to our engagement party on February 24. You made the start of this chapter of our lives so very special. Your generosity was unbelievable; we were truly overwhelmed.

It is far too infrequent that we all manage to get together for happy occasions and celebrate. All of you who traveled to see us and endured the crowd touched us more than you will ever realize. It made our apartment really feel like a home, because this was the first time that we were given the chance to host all of our loved ones together.

While we cannot promise such a crowd at any point in the immediate future, it is our sincerest hope that you will stop by to see us when you are in West Hartford, and, if you are able, join us for Shabbos dinner. It won’t be pizza and ice cream, but we’ll do our best to please.

On April 30, 2008, I managed to surprise Liba with a ring. It was difficult because I had already told her that the ring was ready to be picked up from the jeweler and that I would probably propose to her in Elizabeth Park.

In any case, what I did was I told her that there was a problem with the engine of the car and that we should pull over to the side of the road. We then pulled into sunrise point at Elizabeth Park. Because it is in the Hartford side of the park, I tried to convince her that it was not really Elizabeth park, but she had her suspicions. I asked her to pop the hood. I then walked to the front of the car, behind the hood, and stealthily removed the ring from my pocket, while she waited in the car.

I told her that we would have to wait a few minutes for the engine to cool. I was worried that, at this point, she would be on to me, but she told me later that when she had opened the glove compartment and not found anything, she figured that I was going to wait a while before proposing. I had told her, earlier in the day, that I would not have time to pick up the ring until the following day, but I do not think that she believed me, until that point, when she opened the glove compartment.

After I told her we would have to wait for a while, the two of us walked a few feet to the apex of the arched stone wall of Sunrise Point and sat down together on top of the wall. After a few minutes, I made a move to stand up, and feigned falling. By doing this, I was able to kneel without her noticing that I was doing as such. I then asked her for a hand, which, of course, surprised her. As she stuck out her hand, I revealed the ring and asked her to marry me. She was very surprised, but she still wasted no time in putting the ring on her finger.

We then took some pictures, some of which we will share with you below. After the camera ran out of batteries, we took a short walk through Elizabeth Park (no pictures available of this part of the outing). Liba used this walk as an opportunity to use the podium at Elizabeth Park, where she practiced her conducting skills, just like her mother did, a few years earlier. The tulips were in bloom and we both enjoyed that.

We then departed to take care of a few of Liba’s obligations and, following this, we went out for dinner. The next morning, Liba and I went to her old elementary school, where her father was directing a production of The Music Man. Liba enjoyed showing the entire cast, crew and faculty her ring. Everyone agreed that it was the loveliest ring they had ever seen.
